Republican presidential candidate and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley speaks during a news conference on Wednesday in Charleston, S.C. Chris Carlson/AP

Charleston, South Carolina — After stinging defeats in states across the country during Super Tuesday, Nikki Haley chose to end her political campaign for President. This was after a disappointing showing in the Super Tuesday contests that was her first big test of whether Republican voters wanted her brand of a ‘new generation of leadership.’

Haley had launched her campaign in February of 2023. Haley touted being the daughter of Sikh Punjabi immigrants, learning about entrepreneurship from her mother Raj Kaur Randhawa and following in the footsteps of her unlikeliest of idols — former FLOTUS Hillary Clinton.

In Punjabi, ‘Nikki’ means small. That also reflected in her impact in a once-crowded Republican field of hopefuls for their party’s nomination to face President Biden in November. One by one candidates dropped out as they realized they ran out of other people’s money to fund their unique dystopian quest to become President.
